Polish ketchup brand Kotlin adopts Amcor’s Sava Flip Top closure

The key reasons for this selection are the closure’s user-friendly design and its lightweight nature.

SWITZERLAND – Zurich-based packaging giant Amcor has revealed that Kotlin, a prominent Polish ketchup brand under Maspex, has selected its Sava Flip Top closure for its product line.

The decision highlights the closure’s reduced weight and ease of use, which maintain high standards for consumer handling without sacrificing durability.

Produced by Maspex, one of the largest food manufacturers in Central and Eastern Europe, Kotlin has built a reputation for quality tomato-based products through innovative recipes and a blend of tradition with modern appeal.

The brand’s premium status demands packaging that matches its image, and the Sava closure delivers on that front with its reliable performance over extended use.

The Sava is a 55mm flip-top cap featuring a 38/400 neck finish, supplied in green, red, and blue to correspond with Kotlin’s various ketchup varieties in 450g, 650g, and 950g bottles.

This setup ensures compatibility with existing filling lines, as Amcor’s team collaborated closely with Maspex during implementation.

In a statement, Sylwia Bębenek, buyer at Maspex, expressed satisfaction with the new closure, noting it is significantly lighter than other options on the market while preserving full functionality.

She added that Amcor’s technical support was instrumental in integrating it seamlessly into production.

Bartosz Głodowski, Amcor’s regional sales leader for Poland, commented, “The versatility and convenience of our Sava closure makes it the ideal solution for all types of ketchups and sauces.”

He emphasized how the design offers spill-free dispensing through its valve system, enhancing everyday use for consumers.

As part of Amcor’s B Circular Range, the closure promotes environmental responsibility with its polypropylene construction and thermoplastic elastomer valve, both recyclable in areas with suitable facilities.

This reduces material usage compared to prior versions, contributing to lower resource consumption in packaging.

Kotlin’s adoption aligns with its marketing efforts, including a campaign that playfully portrays barbecues as a staple of Polish culture, insisting no outdoor gathering is complete without the brand’s products.

The updated packaging supports this narrative by providing practical, durable options for such settings.

This development comes amid Amcor’s showcase at the Fachpack exhibition in Nuremberg, running from September 24 to 26, 2025.

There, the company is displaying the Sava alongside other innovations like the Modena Flip Top for sauces and dressings, focusing on lightweight designs that improve recyclability.

According to Amcor rigid packaging solutions international food Central Europe sales director Philipp Richter, sustainability is a key factor in packaging choices, paired with needs for functionality and consumer appeal.

The event highlights Amcor’s range of reusable cups, lids, and containers, further expanding options for food brands seeking efficient solutions.
